To be honest, I really thought without the erotic scenes I am used too, I wouldn't enjoy this collection. But Colour Me Surprised. I LOVED these stories. Set in London and surrounding countryside, 1836-1839.
AN EARL'S AGREEMENT
From the first story with Miss Lucy being saved by Lord Caldwell. You will see a pattern. All these stories have one or two characters in common. This continuity, I found heartwarming. As all books could be read as a stand alone but as a collection, the experience into their lives is so much more.
MARRIED TO A MARQUESS
Next in line is Miss Alice Henstridge. Now her story had me in tears. Yes, I am a sook when it comes to a sad story. She is strong in her own right and proves it by taking back what she deserves. Lord William Bexley, the Marquess of Worthington won't know what hit him till Cupid shoots him right in the butt. And he deserves everything he feels.
A VISCOUNT'S SECOND CHANCE
Now Lady Brooke is a rich widow returning to society after her grieving period, doesn't need a man to fulfill her life. She has friends and a companion in Miss Whiltshire. Her life will not be boring after she has an encounter with a bad man. To her rescue is Lord Henry Armitage, a lovesick puppy of sorts. He has had feelings for her since forever but due to his shyness, he missed out last time, and he made some huge mistakes but he's not willing to give up on this chance now.
A DUKE FOR CHRISTMAS
Lord Charles Sutherland is a debauched cad that wouldn't know what was good for him if it stood dripping water all over his front hall floor. But he is in for a rude and outspoken awakening. Miss Isabelle Docherty is going to remind him of a lot of things. but it might cost her more than he is willing to lose.
UNEXPECTED EARL
Surprisingly, Miss Catherine Hewson thinks she has this love and marriage thing all sorted out. She would marry when she was ready and to whom she chose. She would not fall for the first man to woo her. Yeah right, she does exactly the opposite of what she promised herself. Even though she hasn't been close to her once a good friend in a very long time, she ignores his warning and pushes him into making yet more embarrassing mistakes. At least that's what she thinks but in truth, he is only trying to save her from a miserable life and her stubborn self. Lord Linton is trying to do the right thing for the first time in his life but is it too little too late.
